St. Aloysius Degree College has well-established academic departments offering quality education in various disciplines. Each department is equipped with experienced faculty and modern facilities.

The Business Administration Department was launched in 2008 with the goal of providing young men and women with opportunities and visibility, particularly from marginalised to dynamic entrepreneurs. BBA is an accepted, accredited and affiliated three-year technical course by Bengaluru North University. The essence of the course is to train young Students to become a successful and satisfied young Entrepreneurs. As the youngest College, our successes have been praiseworthy. The Department is Unique in providing students in the form of guest lecturers, value added courses, seminars, programmes for professional creation, industrial visits, and projects. This inspired and encouraged the students in curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities to achieve basic excellence.

The Department of Computer Applications aims at producing BCA graduates by imparting technical knowledge and fostering practical skill set empowering students to meet the emerging trends and serve the nation through holistic and value based education. The qualified, experienced and committed team of faculty members mould students to harness opportunities in the dynamic environment, research and development. The Department has 2 well equipped laboratories enabling the students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.

In order to build leadership qualities, communication skill and team spirit the department encourages students to participate in various extra-curricular activities. The Department aims to make use of ethical practices and cyber regulations in the computing field for managing software projects in diverse environments.

We create high quality software professionals by allowing our students think beyond academics making them understand the societal, environmental and moral values and its impact with respect to computing, communication, literary and professional practice (Social Responsibility).

The Department of Commerce offers B. Com at the undergraduate level. It has highly experienced faculty which ensures smooth teaching-learning process in the department and one of the most vibrant departments of the college. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and has a Business Lab for technical subjects. The course also enables students to understand the concepts on taxation, accounting, finance, economics and management. To make students more competent for employability, the department offers various value-added courses on Tally ERP9 with GST and basic computer skills.

Department of Political Science is concentrated in understanding the constitution, policies of government at state, national and international levels. The subject also focuses on international relations. It focuses on political theory, its purposes and study of human behaviour in relation to political science.

The Department of Journalism at St. Aloysius Degree College has a curated program for Journalism discipline. It is focused on media sector at large. The department aims to impart the importance of public relations and media management.

Functional English, creative and content writing, video and photography are comprised in Journalism.

The Department of Social Work helps aspiring students to develop skills required to chart a professional career in Social Welfare. We hone our students emotional-intelligence and help develop an understanding of the prominent political theories and about the current political scenario of the world. St. Aloysius Degree College's Department of Languages comprises of English, Kannada and Hindi. Our department of languages focuses on the literary work of the respective language. Functional language, written and speech is also focused and is part of the curriculum.

Communicate effectively in Kannada and Hindi language(s) and interact in a culturally appropriate manner with native speakers of that language.

We believe an overall growth of every student at Aloysius. Sports and physical development is as important as education.

Physical development expressed in terms of physical fitness as well as participation in athletics and team sports is an integral part of the holistic development of the human person. Hence this is vital to the task of building a healthy and conscientious citizenry. The department seeks to enhance the quality of physical culture on campus through maximizing opportunities for athletics and team sports across a wide spectrum of sports and games. Maximum student participation is encouraged through inter-class competitions as well as encouragement and training to participate in inter-collegiate and inter-university tournaments.

Objectives
  • To indulge physical activities in the field of sports for every student.
  • To inculcate a habit in being regular during each student's campus life.
  • To effectively train sports team for inter-college, district-level and state-level competitions.

The Library provides resources and services to support the learning, teaching, and research needs of students, faculty, and staff. As the heart of the College, it is an Information center to acquire and enhance knowledge.

Our Library is situated on ground floor for easy access, with 100 seating capacity and separate reading and reference section for student and faculty. We provide reprographic services, OPAC enabled search, browsing facilities, subscription of journals, magazines, and news papers. Our Library is an information center with rich collections of text books, reference books, encyclopedia, dictionaries, novels, story books. There is a hybrid system- Open and Close access.

SADC Rules of the Library
  1. The library will be open from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., on all working days and vacations of the year. On Saturdays it will be open from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
  2. Application for Library books should be made in the prescribed form.
  3. The name of the book, the name of the author and the call number of the book must be clearly stated when applying for a book.
  4. Extension of period may be obtained if someone else has not applied for the same book.
  5. Loss of a book borrowed from the library must be intimated to the Librarian. Books lost, damaged or defaced must be paid for by the student. Loss of pages, mutilation and any other damage discovered on return of books will be charged.
  6. Strict silence should be observed in and near the reading room.
  7. Books are issued for the exclusive personal use of the applicant. Anyone found applying for books for another will be denied the facility of the library.
  8. The college subscribes to all newspapers and over 20 journals and magazines. Students and Staff are expected to refer to journals and magazines and update their knowledge.
  9. Internet facility / computer assistance is provided for academic purpose.
  10. All books borrowed from the bank must be returned in good condition at the end of the academic year.
  11. The College offers photo copying facility for the staff and students at a nominal fee. The orders could be given to the counter in the library meant for the purpose.
